SCHOHARIE - Congressman Paul Tonko is applauding the decision of the Federal Emergency Management Agency's decision to fund the replacement and relocation of the Niagra Engine Co. No. 6 in Schoharie. The original structure was heavily damaged in last years floods.
The cost of rebuilding will be over $900,000, and Fema will fund three quarters of the bill.
In response to last year's storms, Congressman Tonko helped create and joined the bipartisan Hurricane Irene Coalition as a co-chair, along with Reps Chris Gibson, Maurice Hinchey, and Bill Owens. The Coalition has worked together to ensure FEMA and other federal agencies have the resources they need to support the ongoing recovery effort.
