A sign of rebirth in flood ravaged Schoharie | Business
Title (Max 100 Charaters)
SCHOHARIE - Wednesday's rain reminded residents in Schoharie of why the convenience store needed to shut down in the first place.
Still though, the Stewart's Shop was the place to be.
The sounds of cash registers, and the buzz of conversation filled the Stewart's Shop on Main Street once again, 52 days after Tropical Storm Irene forced the business to shut down, and the building to come down.
The store was busy Wednesday afternoon. People popped in just to check it out, saying it's bigger, brighter and better than before. That included Stewart's employee Rhonda Diamond, who said she can't wait to get back to work.
The real treat though isn't something you can buy in the store, it's a feeling. It's a symbol of rebuilding, and of life slowly getting back to normal.
The grand reopening is Saturday.
